This 1907, North Portland house, really got a whole new go at things with this project.  The clients were torn as the house they have been in for over a decade was showing signs of some serious structural issues.  Options in these situations often lead to contemplation of tear down and starting over, or finding a way to salvage what is already in place.  We pride ourselves in finding any alternative to tear down and for this house we were able to have a retrofit foundation engineered to reinforce the existing and accommodate an addition to the back.  With the addition, a formal staircase to the unfinished basement was added for much needed storage and access to mechanical systems.  The main floor received a modern remodel with finishes including: venetian plaster walls, blackened steel/ painted/ walnut cabinetry, ipe decking with clear cedar siding, and new aluminum clad replacement windows throughout.  All cabinetry, built-ins, and carpentry were performed by the Clarkbuilt teams.
